did you guys know about nunavut?

i didn't until right now! i was looking at maps, and saw a strange "nu" on the east side of the northwest territories of canada, and then i saw a boundary line, and then i zoomed in and saw "nunavat." and then, friends, i googled.

apparently this happened in 1999! no wonder i didn't know about it! i had to learn canadian provinces and capitals way before that in school, and then i never heard about them again! i am too old to have learned about nunavut! hence, i am learning all about it on my own time, right now.

i have one!

my new friend's name is clarence! he is a 2.2ghz white macbook! he is great! i am typing this from his very torso.

i had originally set out to purchase the black macbook, but upon arrival at the store--the cube-- i realized i was unimpressed with how they looked in comparison to the white ones, and a nice young gentleman who worked there--one who i either exasperated or bewitched (or some combination thereof) with all my indecisions and mind-changings and nonsequitors--said that there was no reason i needed a black one, especially since i was also purchasing a 350gb external hard drive.

i was a little dismayed to get another white computer (NOT THAT I AM NOT THRILLED WITH CLARENCE), because murray2 is/was white and i wanted more of a contrast. that is when the nice young gentleman taught me about disguises. he brought me over to the laptop bag section and showed me the most wonderous things! translucent snap-on hard cases that make your macbook different colors! here is clarence IN DISGUISE, from the front and from a folded position:

things happened. callo bradlo came! we had ethiopian food and a shoe time and a dress time and a breakfast time and a searching for change time and a curling time and a party time (the grand ureter christmas party), at which there may have been tood kissing times and mistletoe times. we also sang many songs and i lost my pointy black shoes. pictures can be found: aqui.

the best part of the weekend, though, was when we recorded songs as our far-flung band, metallico. please friend us on myspace! myspace.com/metallicoe! we have two songs:

jay barnes ( a mean song)

we have friends (we are nice) (a nice song)

last night, c.brdlo and i had dinner and mulled wine with hobe, and we invented a very world-weary city cat, and we all went back to the love on lorimer and wrote so many more songs that we did not record. they were all mini and funny.

then callo bradlo accidentally took my keys to colorado, but they are being fedexed back to me. today was writing group, and after writing group was hummusdinner, and at hummus dinner, we invented something way worse than bedbugs: bedhapsburgs. i leave you with that.

han and i have lived at the love on lorimer for one year!

a year ago today/tonight, i moved the remainder of my stuff from grand ureter, han got here with her truck from richmond, and also hobe and i had the best/strangest experience ever at a very odd polish restaurant that becomes a nightclub. which we must do again at a time that is soon.

kazu hates her toenail clipped. she gets violent and bitey. so we looked up how to restrain a cat, and we found this. it had a muzzle made out of a cup. we had a cup and some ribbon, so we made a muzzle. it is the saddest thing that ever happened. she whined and made the most pitiful noises. i nearly cried while han clipped. but now she has short nails.

here is a sneak peak at my costume for wednesday. which is not wednesday addams. i think the hair makes it obvious. though i should probably try to spike the bangs more. it was so hard to get them even this spikey though.

this ridiculous flier, making its rounds on facebook and on blogs, is funny for a number of reasons , but mostly because it's so clear that the creators just found the most flattering pictures they could of the republicans, and the most unflattering pictures they could of the democrats. look how unflattering of a picture they had to find of hillary clinton to attempt to make the quite absurd point that she is uglier than ann coulter. hardly anyone is uglier than ann coulter, let alone hillary clinton, who is fairly conventionally pretty. ann coulter has to hide behind sheets of greasy, ratty hair to appear at all unlike lurch from the addams family.

and laura bush is just mousy with an unfortunate haircut/face combination. i think this is the first instance of someone claiming she is hot.

also, give nancy pelosi a break. she looks completely normal. she's just making a face.

i considered wasting my time making a rebuttal about how democratic men are much hotter than republican men (john edwards! swoon. also, dennis kucinich is still my little alien-crush)--a rebuttal against the republican nitwits who made that flier, and a rebuttal against the notion that female politicians and politically involved people are judged for their appearances whereas men are not--but i have other things to do. so someone else do it.
